BOB MARONGIU
WHO IS BOB?
Bob (Roberto Marongiu) was born in Switzerland on the 13th November, 1966 to Sardinian parents.
Qualified on foreign languages, he studied Scene arts, wrote poems and sung songs. Painting has become the way to express his positive feelings.
His works have been influenced by Picasso, Matisse, Miró, the Expressionism, the Fauves, and the Pop Art, by the Mondrian abstract art, Modigliani and Renoir elegance but also by Haring, Mordillo, Jacovitti, and Cavandoli.
Not less important are the influences from some cartoons he used to watch when he was a child; in particular Barbapapa, Vicky the Viking and the fantastic series Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes. Their colourful landscapes, the positive characters’ attitude, irony and playfulness have had a particular influence on Bob’s work.
He appreciates Pollock and among the contemporaries Koons, Murakami, Rizzi and Veneziano.
He has lived between Italy and other parts of the world where he exhibited his work. He now lives and works in Cagliari, Sardinia.
He defines his art Neo Happy Pop; his paintings are an expression of gaiety.
